As the Master Julian Bream has passed in 2020, I tend to look to David Russell to take up that esteemed role. Yet that's not to over-look Russell's own unique style & talent that he brings forth. This piece is played beautifully and is a good example of Russell's mastery.

I must admit, wonderful player though she certainly is, I do prefer John Williams' interpretation of this piece. One thing I'll say, you can't argue against the Allegro Solemn movement not being very damn quick, then again, it IS scored 'Allegro' and allegro is how she plays it. Faster than I can play it, that's for sure
